DEIC Statement of Commitment to a better RSMAS

We support the protests against persistent police brutality, inequality, racism and social injustice spurred by recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery that build on a long legacy of other senseless murders. For our members of color, these events highlight the marginalization, frustration and despair encountered daily solely based on skin color. We support continuing perseverance towards a more equitable society and culture at RSMAS in which everyone feels welcome. Science is a human process and is improved through a greater diversity of ideas and approaches reflecting the full society. Black Lives Matter. We are proud of the stance that our university and professional societies have taken but call on all of us at RSMAS to seek ways to further a more equitable representation within our professions.
